Josh Lambert

Since 2004

I grew up playing these games as a teenager, and they hold a special place in my heart. Twenty-two years later the battles still hold up: a squad holding the last command post, an AT-AT coming over the ridge on Hoth, a match that comes down to the final reinforcement. Keeping them alive is a glad duty.

I started Battlefront Eternal on October 7, 2026. In its first two weeks it grew a new renderer, a new sound engine, native netcode, the front end on this site, dedicated servers that update themselves, and apps for Windows and Linux that do the same. Public servers host battles of up to 64 players today.

I build with AI coding agents, run like a team: I set the goals, the standards and the tests, and I review what ships. That's how one founder moves a new engine this far in weeks.

I ship things people depend on

More than a decade of founding, building and running real systems, from radio towers to open-source software.

Alabama Lightwave

Founder and president since 2019. A fixed-wireless internet provider for Bibb, Chilton and Choctaw counties in Alabama. Real networks, real customers, and the latency and uptime that come with them.

Centreville Tech

Founder and principal engineer since 2015. Custom software, API automation and private LTE and 5G networks.

TiDev

Board chairman since 2022 of the nonprofit that looks after Titanium, the open-source mobile app framework, which it took over from Axway.

Rapid5GS

Free software that brings up an LTE or 5G mobile core in one command. At ALANOG-6 it ran a full LTE core on a $65 computer in under five minutes.

Opening night

When fiber ran late at Birmingham's new Coca-Cola Amphitheater, I got it online over wireless in time for opening night.

On the air

I built the tower weather camera network that WBRC FOX6 uses on air.

To the team building the next Star Wars: Battlefront

Recent reports say a new Star Wars: Battlefront is in development, with DICE and Respawn building it for Lucasfilm. If that's you, at Lucasfilm Games, at EA or in either studio: I'd love to help make it. Consider this my application. It's a little longer than a cover letter.

I've played Battlefront since the original came out in 2004. Building Eternal taught me these games down to their rules: how a command post bleeds reinforcements, how the AI picks its next objective, what the sound engine does with a blaster shot across a courtyard. And I'm still a player first. Here's what players actually want, from one of them:

  • Big battles. 32 a side, with bots that hold the line when the server isn't full.
  • Servers the community can run. Dedicated servers, a real browser, LAN, and no shutdown date.
  • Offline play that counts. Instant Action and Galactic Conquest against good AI, no account needed.
  • Both eras. Every class, and the vehicles that made the maps.
  • PC done properly. Real settings, mods and custom maps.
  • Progression you earn by playing, not by paying.
  • Respect for the originals. Their sound, their maps and their pace.
  • A launch that works. Stable servers on day one, and a team that listens after it.

I ship things that work: networks people rely on, two companies, and now an engine fans play on. I'd bring that, and twenty-two years as a Battlefront player, to whatever you're building. Let's talk.
